I have spent over 10 years working in building surveying with the last 6 years spent predominantly in fire safety, carrying out comprehensive risk assessments across various residential properties, including HMOs, hotels, and social housing. Recognising the unique challenges HMOs present, I specialise in providing clear, practical guidance to help landlords and letting agents keep tenants safe and ensure full legal compliance. My greatest reward comes from knowing a property is genuinely safe, hazards are addressed, and everyone can act confidently in an emergency.

  • BS 9792:2025 – guidance for the competence, methodology, and reporting of fire risk assessments, ensuring assessments are carried out consistently, proportionately, and to a recognised professional standard.
  • BS 8214 & BS 476 – standards for fire doors and fire-resisting construction.

  • Other relevant guidance such as local authority HMO licensing requirements and fire service recommendations.
